We are farmers, industrialists, innovators, and entrepreneurs.

We began hydroponic farming of legal medical marijuana upon passage of Amendment 20 to Colorado’s constitution in November 2000.

Our first 100,000W commercial indoor-growing facility in Boulder, CO was built in 2010. We supplied our comprehensive line of heirloom plant genetics, ordered all the necessary lighting, HVAC, and environmental control equipment, and designed, assembled, and operated one of Boulder’s first and most successful commercial indoor farms.

What We Do

Root 64 is dedicated to producing elite strains of the highest quality cannabis for premium clientele.

As experts in serving the medicinal market, we also produce the highest grade of naturally grown medical-marijuana flowers and extracts for a very select group of legally-certified patients. Our cannabis is appreciated by patients seeking improved health, pain-reduction, and an improved quality of life.

Root 64 uses innovative systems and techniques at the leading edge of indoor cannabis farming. Our hybrid growing systems outperform the best commercial indoor farms, and exceed the quality standards the high-end market demands. We harness Colorado’s 300 days of sunshine to produce organic, premium, all-natural, indoor hydroponic cannabis of the highest quality.

Why We Do It

Root 64 seeks to be the first of its kind in the modern epicurean marketplace. It’s time to turn off the blacklight, brighten up the perception of marijuana, and broaden the appeal—for pain or for pleasure.

In the United States in 2012, there were 18.9-million users of cannabis. Casual users of a drug still classified as a Schedule I substance by the federal government (cocaine is Schedule II). The image of the cannabis user is often that of a slacker or a scofflaw. Experience in the market shows an ever-increasing number of suburbanites, business professionals, and people from all walks of life who regularly use cannabis.

There is a growing population of Americans for whom cannabis and specifically various extracts of cannabidiol (CBD)—one of at least 60 identified cannabinoids in marijuana—is an effective medication for a number of common ailments.

While many recreational and medical marijuana stores offer mid-grade flowers and extracts to meet a mass-market price point, Root 64 produces only medical grade cannabis products.

How We Do It

Root 64 uses premier indoor and outdoor environmental-growing equipment and controls, the highest quality building materials and standards, operating efficiencies and world-class plant phenotypes to produce premier quality cannabis at the lowest possible cost.

The Facility

The Root 64 facility is the leading edge of cannabis farms. Innovations and adaptations at the Root 64 facilities have evolved into a mechanical-engineering marvel in a burgeoning market.

We built the first iteration of the Root 64 farm in 2008, experimenting with air-cooled high intensity discharge (HID) lighting systems, advanced environmental controls, CO2 supplementation, and size-compensated HVAC systems. We updated and modernized the facility in 2010, and again in 2012 and 2014. In the summer of 2013, we built the Grindoor, an environmentally controlled cannabis greenhouse/indoor hybrid garden, and one of the first of its kind.

The Cannabis

Plant phenotyping is the comprehensive assessment of complex plant traits such as growth, development, tolerance, resistance, architecture, ecology, and yield. Plant dimensions, compactness, stem diameter, internode length, color, flowering time, and germination time are examples of quantifiable complex plant traits that we use to justify our use of the term 'premier quality.

The Root 64 elite marijuana phenotypes in our strain repository have been painstakingly collected over the course of nearly 20 years. Each and every one of our strains has been hand selected for its complex effects, flavor, scent, appearance, and density. In selecting these elite phenotypes, we have eliminated dozens that were not of premium medical grade. We have abandoned dozens more for unreliable growth characteristics, and still more for abnormalities or lack of reliable source information. Through a network of local farmers, we have built a truly premium cannabis catalog. Our collection surpasses what is commonly available at recreational and medical marijuana shops, and it represents a unique quality and diversity transcending other cannabis cultivators.

Root 64 is quality and diversity.
